The Fox News headline read: Man captures image of Jesus shining through the clouds: ‘I was enchanted.’ I must admit that I tend to be skeptical of things in nature that resemble Jesus. The article also referenced another popular occurrence where someone saw and image that resembled Jesus in an ultrasound. But this one is a bit more obvious and hard to deny. As the article says, this image does bear a striking resemblance to the famous Rio de Janeiro statue of Christ the Redeemer. What does the Word have to say about such occurrences in the last days?

And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and notable day of the Lord come: Acts 2:18-20

Luke’s Gospel records that “fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven (Luke 21:11).” Given the context of Luke’s account, I would say these signs are specific to the judgments that are being poured out in the Tribulation and the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. In the Acts’ account, the manifestations of God’s Spirit are not confined to the Tribulation period, so what sense does it make to pin the wonders in the heavens and signs in the earth down to the Tribulation? God can pour his Spirit out any time he wants, so if he chooses to make a display in the heavens, he can do that too!

Another phenomenon along these lines, I find inspiring and convicting is the flood of accounts of Jesus appearing to Muslims in dreams. Of course this is not on the mainstream media, but you will hear from various ministries that have their ear-to-the-ground that Jesus is showing himself mightily in these areas where the governments try so hard to keep the lid on the gospel. This too should alert us that we are living in the last days, for the preceding verse in Acts says exactly that:

And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: Acts 2:17

By convicting I mean that here are people that receive a dream from Jesus the Messiah and surrender the lives in unquestioning faith to him knowing that they will be disowned by their families. They even run the risk in some countries of being the victims of ‘honor killings’ where the lives of those who embrace any religion contrary the Muslim faith are taken. I think the time for being skeptical is over, and the time for unquestioning faith is here! Don’t get me wrong. If we jump on everything chain-email or claims on social media, we could end up nutty as a fruitcake, but on the other hand, if clamp down in unbelief and question every sign and wonder that comes our way, we may miss the boat!
